Managing Interfaces Across ICT and EPC Work Packages

Illustration of engineers coordinating ICT networks and industrial EPC work packages using connected facility models and project blueprints

Summary: ICT and EPC programmes need explicit controls at the boundaries between work packages. Completing separate tasks does not necessarily produce a system ready for acceptance.

Management principles

The International Telecommunication Union’s Project Management Manual describes governance, defined responsibilities, decision gates and documented change control. These disciplines help teams examine how a change affects schedule, resources, cost and quality before approving it.

CNB Telecom’s application to interfaces

  • Maintain a register of handovers between civil works, power, networks, equipment and integration.
  • Assign an accountable owner and identify the receiving party.
  • Specify the required input, due date and acceptance evidence.
  • Review unresolved dependencies alongside schedule and risk.
  • Close a handover only after the receiving party verifies the agreed output.

The interface checklist is CNB Telecom’s application of general project-management principles to ICT/EPC delivery. It should be adapted to the contract and project, rather than presented as a universal ITU requirement.
